15th February 2010, FUN TIMES: Aqua Terra Turkish Baths

Continuing the birthday celebrations, we popped down to the Turkish Baths near Old Street for a few hours. I was kind of expecting it to be a bit luxurious. I was wrong. The baths are council-run and upstairs is a normal leisure pool. Downstairs though, they have hot, hotter and hottest rooms, an icy plunge pool, a steam room, a 'relaxation' area and a TV room. It's kind of creaky down there. Everything's a bit run down and crap. But you know, steam rooms are steam rooms and I went in the icy plunge pool, which was a first, and it felt good. The relaxation area was just a bunch of beds where you could hear the noisy cartoons from the TV room and a woman detailing some angry altercation she'd just been in. Not very relaxing. Quite amusing though.
