24th January 2010, GIG: Frankie And The Heartstrings + Swanton Bombs, The Lock Tavern

Was annoyingly late for this free gig (part of Huw Stephens' Happy Huw Year mini-tour), which meant that I missed seeing Islet, the one band I actually wanted to see. Instead, I got Swanton Bombs, a very young two-piece with little imagination or enthusiasm and Frankie And The Heartstrings. I'd seen a lot of people talking about FATH so was a little disappointed with them. I was expecting rockabilly excitement and got sub-Futureheads fare. Still, they put on a great show, you can't take your eyes off of them and their performance alone was enough to win me over, despite their averager than average songs.
